The Riipen team is as diverse as the communities we support. We come from different backgrounds, with a fantastic variety of skills, and a passion for solving the very real social issue of graduate underemployment. Conceptualized by Dana Stephenson and Dave Savory for their capstone entrepreneurship project at the University of Victoria, their idea addressed an issue that they faced personally as students — the challenge of gaining relevant work experience, building a network of possible employers, and then demonstrating their skills to that network in order to find work that would help them start their careers. They were facing the graduation conundrum —
You can’t get a job without experience, but you can’t get experience without a job.
Together, they recruited a team comprised of the best technology, academic, corporate, marketing, and customer service expertise to help deliver on Riipen’s mission:
Significantly Reduce Graduate Underemployment + Unemployment
Since inception in 2013, Riipen has expanded it’s reached internationally and has developed a state of the art technology platform the caters and provides significant competitive advantages for organizations and academic institutions while staying true to their original goal of supporting student development. To-date Riipen has created over 15,000 real-world industry-student experiences, is collaborating with over 150 academic institutions across the globe, and has developed a partner network of over 10,000 employers and businesses eager to support, engage and learn from young professionals.
While we’ve hit many milestones, Riipen couldn’t have achieved this without the help of our amazing community of supporters, early adopters, and investors. We aim to revolutionize high education and recruitment by enhancing the way educators, organizations and students engage one another through mutually beneficial micro-experiences. We can’t do it alone and with that, we hope you’ll continue to help spread the word about the long-term positive social change we’re looking to achieve.
We are a high-performing team that is driven, has fun at work in a flexible and supportive environment, and lives and breathes our core values of Integrity, Passion, Ingenuity, Learning, Empowerment, and Community. We are rapidly growing and always looking for talented people with the right skills and attitude to join our team.
