$60,000 to $80,000


The Role: The director, Corporate Events Sales & Planning will develop and manage sales and operations for corporate events at Toronto Grand banquet & convention centre. This role will be responsible for supporting all activities within the corporate events department. Focusing specifically on soliciting business in the corporate and social markets to increase and maximize revenue, as well as detailing and managing event, the ideal candidate will have established contacts in the corporate and social markets to rely on while building a solid book of business.

Essential Functions:

  • Proactively solicit new business by, among other things, making sales calls, attending trade shows, and engaging in other client prospects in order to increase the size of the organization’s client database
  • Qualify leads, draft proposals and contracts
  • Monitor changes and new developments in the corporate events industry
  • Work closely with Toronto Grand staff, catering staff and vendors to plan and execute client events
  • Manage the events calendar, conduct site visits and be the primary contact for clients
  • Prepare and provide required documents and reports for the Owner, Toronto Grand including but not limited to banquet event orders, banquet checks, revenue reports, prospect/tentative/turndown reports and sales recaps
  • Obtain feedback from clients following each corporate event to determine and analyze client satisfactio


Job Qualifications:

  • Resourceful, innovative and forward thinking, with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Working knowledge of local and regional markets, venue operations, and corporate events industries
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively evaluate risks and liabilities of special events
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheet, database, CRM and word processing programs
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as necessary



  • Four or more years of event sales experience required at Director level – preferably in Toronto
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience and/or training

The modern event space was constructed in the year 2017, with over 20,000 square feet spread across four adjoining halls that are capable of accommodating guests from as little as 75 attendees and up to 1300, depending on the style and set up of choice. It is centrally located in the GTA just minutes away from Pearson International Airport, hotels and conveniently accessible via major highways
